Hey, Billy (one of our Special Olympic golfers) has been selected to travel to Colorado Springs, Colorado to try and qualify for the World Winter Games to be held in Sweden, in the Speed Skating event. He is surprisingly quick. You all know what a great guy he is. Special Olympics provides transportation for Billy, but not for anyone else. We are hoping you may want to help by making a special donation for this adventure. If you do, simply write Congratulations Billy in the note section of the check.

Also, on our “wish list” for this year, is procuring an electric cart for one of the golfers on the RHAM golf team. This athlete has a very rare condition called TANGO2. He can be all excited, and playing well one minute, and then loses all energy. Though he is an avid Red Sox fan, don’t hold it against him. If anyone has a connection, or knows of a used electric hand cart, please let us know.

Welcome To Our Golf Tournament

Join us for 21st, almost annual, golf tournament on Monday, June 15th, 2020, at Ellington Ridge Country Club, where for the past 3 years, the PGA has held the qualifying event for the Travelers Tournament that is played in Cromwell. 100% of the net proceeds from this tournament will be used to benefit various Special Olympic programs, by providing equipment, transportation, food, entry fees, etc., for the athletes.

In 2018, we initiated a pilot program utilizing Uber/Lyft to provide transportation for our athletes to attend practices, and go to work, as they live their lives in our communities. After the athletes leave school, many find jobs at our local supermarkets, restaurants, and businesses. However, many do not have a method of transportation. In 2019, we doubted our commitment due to the success of the program. We anticipate doubling the double this year. We hope you feel this is a valuable endeavor as well, and help us by supporting our tournament.

The cost per golfer in a foursome is $175. Prizes will be awarded. Print and fill out this form to sign up.
